Clubs and School Programs

Woodwork

Woodword group is held on Tuesdays during lunch time for our year 4 to 6 students.  Ray Hodgson (Lisa McCartie's father) kindly donates his time to create wonderful pieces of art with students.  Groups of 6 student attending for a 5 week block each term.

The children attending Wood Work Club have had fun making and painting tool boxes, mug holders and cars.  They will be making Christmas items in the coming weeks.  As always the children have enjoyed their woodwork sessions and their behaviour is to be commended.

Craft Club

Our craft club is held every Tuesday and Thursday in the library at lunch time.  It is coordinated by our Librarian, Margaret Knott and Jenny Hodgson.  The students have recently been making cards for birthdays and Father's Day.

Gardening Guru

Student from year 4 to 6 who are interested in plant life and have green thumb join our head gardener John Turner on a Tuesday at lunch time.

Art Master Class

Our teacher Leanne Tapper runs Art Master Classes weekly/fortnigtly for part of each term.  These are run after school on a Tuesday for an hour.

Term 4 2020, the Art Masters program continued with the students from C Block. The Year 5 and 6 Gifted and Talented Visual Art students have been learning print making skills.
Students started their project using a still life drawing inspired by Spring flowers, both native and exotic. Students applied their design to lino tiles that were carved using various lino cutting tools and then printed their designs using manual printing presses. They produced artwork of a very high standard and should feel justifiably proud of their efforts. We will display some examples of their finished work in the Arts Centre as soon as the framing is completed.
Many thanks to Ms Suzie Sheridan for volunteering her time to assist us on Tuesday afternoons.

Robotics Club

Larissa Waghorn our Science teacher runs Robotics Club weekly on a Thursday after school for an  hour.

Our Robotics students are working hard, getting ready for the ‘First Lego League’ competition that will be held on the first Saturday in December. There has been lots of patience and resilience required as computer code is modified time and time again, but this is soon forgotten in the excitement as missions are successfully completed. Both teams are also working on their project to present to the judges at the competition. This year's theme is 'Replay' and the challenge is to design something that will help people to become more active.

Chess Club/Lego Club

Due to COVID19 these classes are not being run.  Hopefully they will commence in Term 4 2020.

Board Games Group

Tuesday, 10 November 2020 marked the final Board Game Group session for 2020. This new program was offered to Year 5 and 6 students during Term 4.

During the session, the students had the opportunity to engage in a variety of cooperative board games. In doing so, students utilized their co-operative social strategies, critical thinking skills, problem solving capabilities, leadership and teamwork.

The group was well received by students. See some of our students’ comments below:

• "It was fun and enjoyable, and we got to learn new things. I enjoyed teaching the rules to other kids". G.C-Year 6 participant.
